Vivtek Fishing Equipment was founded by Mr Viv Foster. Being an avid fisherman since his childhood, Viv decided he could not find the tackle he was looking for in any store. He started designing and making his own equipment in a factory in Johannesburg and gradually the business grew and more orders were placed for his products.

By 1984 he had his own fishing equipment factory based in the town of Knysna which is nestled on the edge of one of the largest estuaries in Southern Africa, known as the Knysna Lagoon. Viv thrives on angling and designing the best fishing tackle and is continually coming up with new products - so visit our website regularly to view new products, we will mention them on the home page.

Viv's first recollection of his very early day fishing was going with his father sitting on the back of a bicycle made for two and his feet could not reach the pedals. In his first competition he won, he went with his father on a South Wales Transport competition when he was 10 year old. He was the only child there. He says he won it because he was lazy & did not want to walk all the way along beach, so he threw his bait amongst all the bathers and ended up with two flat fish - no one else caught a fish. That was the start of his fishing career.

He came to South Africa in his early twenties and was capped several times for Western Transvaal and also fished for Eastern Transvall. He moved to the Cape in 1983 where, within two months, he won his Southern Cape colours for Fresh Water Light Tackle, then joined the deep sea brigade where he won his colours again. Within a year he was in the South African Angling Team fishing for game fish in Kenya. He has several provincial records, and one World Record - a fish of 89 Lb on 8 Lb line!

He was nominated Sportsman of the Year in Knysna. With over 50 years angling experience, he enjoys designing new products of high quality.

From minnows, trout, bass, carp, sailfish to marlin - he just lives to fish!
